The museum's annual Halloween Boat Burning is one of New York's most unique family events! Each year, someone donates a large, wooden boat that is simply beyond repair and we set it ablaze for Long Island's largest bon fire!

Each year at this event, we also raffle off a new wooden boat, lovingly hand-crafted by our boat shop volunteers to a lucky winner!

Halloween costumes encouraged. Live entertainment, and light snacks and refreshments available.

My first boat burning was last year, in 2015. I went by myself, and enjoyed observing the boat as was being engulfed in flames! I went more for the traditional value as opposed for fun. In my opinion I'd like to see an additional attraction added with the boat burning, hence my rating for the price of admission.

Good family fun

I took my family for the 1st time in 2014, it is now a tradition that will do every year. It is a great time for the whole family. We so look forward to it. Lots of fun, can't wait for this year :)

Fun for the whole family!

Where else will you see a boat voluntarily set on fire! The band TRIBUTE will be playing music to entertain the crowd. It will be a great night!

This event is awesome. And now they even have pirates...yes, pirates. Walking around, giving out coins and great for the kids.
